geographIT, a division of EBA Engineering, Inc. is recruiting an experienced GIS Analyst professional to work fulltime on-site at our client office location in Los Angeles, California.


General Position Description

Analyzes business process workflows and requirements to implement GIS and technology solutions. Prepares database conversion, migration, and QA/QC work plans that define the processing and QA/QC steps to ensure cost effective and high-quality databases. Prepares Python/Model Builder scripts to automate the production and QA/QC processes. Assists in gathering user and application requirements for custom solutions, and prepares test plans for solutions. Performs QA/QC of data and application deliverables. Provides on-call technical troubleshooting support to clients with ability to participate in on-call rotation providing 24/7/365 support. Prepares technical documentation and user help manuals. Publishes services and configures out-of-the-box ArcGIS Online/Portal story maps, web app templates, web map configurations, hosted services. Configures and administers ArcGIS Online organization.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Participates in project requirements meetings to investigate and document client objectives, deliverables, data requirements and sources, processing requirements, analytical procedures, and mapping/reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate source documents/databases and prepare solid data production and QA/QC work plans that are cost efficient and ensure quality results.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of geodatabase design best practices, resulting in high performance databases that are easily maintained and capable of supporting business rules, processes, and functions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create source-to-target data migration plans from a variety of source formats, mapping data elements between source and target and defining extract/transform/load (ETL) processing requirements to implement the migration.
  • Understands and applies QA/QC best practices to data conversion and migration projects, defines QA/QC test requirements, configures/implements DataReviewer tests, and conducts QA/QC of deliverables.
  • Possesses Python and geoprocessing skills to implement database queries, reports, forms, views, data aggregation, ETL functions, geo-processing models, map production, and reporting.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of ArcGIS Server service capabilities and configures and publishes hosted services in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Server environments.
  • Configures ArcGIS Online/Portal applications including story maps, application templates and web application builder configurations.
  • Prepares technical documentation and user help manuals.
  • Prepares training materials and conducts training sessions with groups of users in person and web-based.  
  • Possesses strong ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro skills, including software installation and license configuration.
  • Trouble-shoots and resolves technical problems based on user-reported issues.
  • Organizes and maintains project data, reports, software, and technical documentation.
  • Regularly evaluates capabilities of latest software releases for project application and client consulting.
  • Investigates, evaluates and recommends new software to improve efficiency or support project needs.
  • Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with supervisor, staff and clients to ensure two-way communication.
  • Minimum Experience, Skill Set, and Employment Requirements to Qualify:
    1. BS or BA degree in GIS, Geography or related discipline from accredited university.
    2. A minimum of 2+ years of on-the-job experience requiring knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined for this position.
    3. A minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with the ArcGIS Platform including: ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS for Server, and ArcGIS Online performing activities defined for this position.
    4. A minimum of 2+ years hands-on experience with Windows operating system and the suite of Microsoft Office products.
  • A US citizen or Green Card immigration status holder residing in the United States.


  1. Ability to successfully pass a federal, state, and local security background check.
  2. Ability to work as part of remote and virtual team and communicate effectively with team via task management and team communication software. 
  • GISP Certificate.
  • ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Certification.
  • GIS experience supporting public safety or emergency management sectors.
  • Python scripting experience including ArcPy modules.
  • ArcGIS Online or Portal administration, group and user management
