geographIT, a division of EBA Engineering, Inc. is recruiting an experienced fulltime GIS Software Developer professional to work at our Lancaster, Pennsylvania office, or optionally, in the greater Philadelphia metropolitan region.


General Position Description

Performs life cycle software engineering and related information technology services in support of system

design, development, implementation, maintenance, and technical support. Participates in gathering and

documenting software requirements, designing applications, creating test plans, programming and

testing custom software to software specifications, software testing, maintaining software version control,

deploying software into production environments, providing technical support, troubleshooting production software systems, maintaining software documentation, and assisting in other assignments as requested. Provides on-call technical troubleshooting support to clients with ability to participate in on-call rotation providing 24/7/365 support. Establishes and maintains effective professional working relationships with clients and co-workers.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with front-end web development, JavaScript and the DOM.
  • Experience with React.js and understanding of core principles.
  • Ability to develop applications compatible with a variety of devices and browsers.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of with front-end development tools such as Gulp, Babel, Webpack, and NPM.
  • Knowledge of Esri's ArcGIS API for JavaScript and Esri's Web AppBuilder platform. Experience with open-source web-mapping platforms such as Mapbox or Leaflet would also suffice.
  • Familiarity with modern JavaScript testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Python and/or .NET is a plus.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using Git protocol for software version control and document repository. Organizes and maintains software and associated technical documentation in version control.
  • Assists in developing QA/QC standards and documentation best practices for software quality, life cycle maintainability of software, and reuse of source code libraries.
  • Understands unit test methodology and implementation of unit tests in the development process.
  • Participates in code reviews with the developer team to ensure code documentation and best practices.
  • Evaluates new technology trends, design patterns, cross platform development frameworks, programming languages and techniques.
  • Assists in developing reliable hour estimates for software development projects.
  • Engages in the professional community by presenting at conferences and authoring blogs for marketing.
  • Experience and familiarity with agile development methodologies and task tracking platforms.
  • Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with supervisor, staff and clients to ensure two-way communication.


Minimum Experience, Skill Set, and Employment Requirements to Qualify:

    1. BS or BA degree in GIS, Computer Science, or related IT discipline from accredited university.
    2. A minimum of 2+ years of on-the-job experience requiring knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined for this position.
    3. A minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with ArcGIS/REST service development frameworks.
    4. Proficient with Microsoft suite of office products.
    5. Personal projects or other ways of demonstrating skill-set can be substituted for traditional work experience.
  • A US citizen or Green Card immigration status holder residing in the United States.


  1. Ability to successfully pass a federal, state, and local security background check.
