EBA Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer to work in our Baltimore, Maryland, office on projects in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our Transportation Department's project management team.

 

Under the responsible charge of our Transportation Department Manager, the Traffic Engineer will:

  • Manage a team of project engineers and design professionals performing detailed design of traffic elements.
  • Manage and assist with assignments that apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
  • Prepare engineering calculations for code compliance (AASHTO, MSHA, ITE, etc.) and project specific standards and requirements.
  • Work on multiple design projects.
  • Read and develop contract plans, special provisions, engineer's estimates, analyses, and inspection reports.
  • Review construction drawings and/or reports and develop design options, quantities, and repair recommendations.
  • Prepare studies and technical reports (traffic impact studies, safety audits, capacity studies).
  • Perform engineering analysis and design for traffic-related elements such as maintenance of traffic, signing and marking, signals, intelligent transportation systems, and traffic management plans.
  • Work independently and efficiently under the supervision of the Transportation Department Manager while working closely with other project managers or senior-level team members.
  • Provide traffic engineering services on a wide range of projects, from minor improvements for local jurisdictions, to major urban projects, with construction costs of more than $100 million.
  • Work on-site, if necessary.
  • Mentor staff.
  • Attend meetings, interact with clients, and develop trusting relationships.

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus in traffic or transportation engineering
  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • PE license required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with MicroStation (preferred) and/or AutoCAD
  • Expertise with traffic modelling and design programs (Synchro, Vissim, AutoTurn, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work as needed (site visits, field inventories, traffic data collection, travel time studies, etc.)
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in traffic engineering
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Maryland State Highway Administration project experience
  • District Department of Transportation (DDOT) project experience
  • Experience with InRoads design software
  • PTOE certification
  • DBIA certification
