EBA Engineering, Inc. is actively recruiting candidates to fill a full-time Structural/Bridge Engineer position in our Laurel, Maryland office.

The successful candidate will design, analyze, and inspect structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, noise walls, and other structures for transportation projects. Open to relocation candidates.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of a senior level structural/bridge engineer performing various tasks as follows:

  • Perform structural analysis and design for bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, pipes, and other transportation structures
  • Perform load ratings for bridges, box culverts, and pipes
  • Prepare engineering calculations and develop design drawings
  • Review drawings and/or reports and develop design options, repair recommendations, and cost estimates
  • Perform field work, including site visits and bridge inspections, and prepare inspection reports
  • Perform work in compliance with AASHTO, MDOT SHA, ASTM, and project specific standards and requirements
  • Proficient in the use of MicroStation for MDOT-SHA's bridge projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus in structural engineering
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in steel and concrete design
  • Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD code requirements
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience using MicroStation for MDOT-SHA's bridge projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader
  • Bridge inspection experience
  • Experience using structural analysis software (Merlin-Dash, MDX, Con-Span, etc.)

Employment Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen, Green Card Resident, or Work Authorization in the United States
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal, state, and local security background check
  • Pre-employment drug screening
