Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer

EBA Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer who will help deepen our structural engineering expertise, help our company continue to deliver exceptional and client-focused design and engineering services, and supervise and mentor our talented staff. The candidate must have extensive experience working with State Highway Administration - Maryland Department of Transportation as well as local government transportation engineering departments, consultants, and contractors.

The successful candidate will design, analyze, and inspect structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, noise walls, and other structures for transportation projects.

The successful candidate will work independently performing various tasks as follows:

  • Perform structural analysis and design for bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, pipes, and other transportation structures, including new, replacement, and rehabilitation of bridges for MDOT-SHA and local agencies
  • Perform load ratings for bridges, box culverts, and pipes
  • Prepare engineering calculations and develop design drawings
  • Review drawings and/or reports and develop design options, repair recommendations, and cost estimates
  • Perform field work, including site visits and NBIS bridge inspections, and prepare inspection reports
  • Perform work in compliance with AASHTO, MDOT-SHA, ASTM, and project specific standards and requirements
  • Ensure adherence to company quality control program and safety standards
  • Work closely with EBA's Structural Department leadership team and marketing department to increase the company visibility, strategic partnerships, contract awards, geographic expansion of services, acquisition, and joint venture business opportunities
  • Search and respond to invitations to bids (RFP's) in writing proposals and making presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in bridges/structural engineering design
  • 5+ years of experience and proven track record of success in designing complex bridge projects
  • Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia PE required
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus in structural engineering
  • Demonstrated experience working with MDOT-SHA and local government transportation departments on bridge and structural projects
  • Proficiency in the design of steel and concrete bridges
  • NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader
  • Bridge inspection experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in civil/structural engineering
  • Experience using structural analysis software (Merlin-Dash, MDX, Con-Span, Bluebeam Revu etc.)
  • Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD code and SHA's bridge design standards

Employment Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen, Green Card Resident, or Work Authorization in the United States
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal, state, and local security background check
